Lead/Manager Data Scientist
Santa Monica, CA, US
Scientist to join our Business Intelligence team. In this role, you will build out a data science team that will be responsible for building predictive models as well as high level statistical analysis of big data.
The candidate must thrive on innovating in a fast-paced environment and be willing to run with projects to completion.
Responsibilities
Apply your expertise in machine learning, data mining and presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how our devices interact with both our customers and business services.
Understand a business question, use data to answer that question, and effectively communicate results and functions to internal teams.
Build predictive models that will then be used in production to inform various parts of the business.
Lead and build out a team of data scientists.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
6+ years of experience in a Data Scientist role for a technology company in a leadership position.
Strong communication and leadership skills
Bachelor’s or graduate degree in engineering or other highly technical field (e.g. mathematics statistics, or computer science) and from a top program.
Machine learning expertise: Regression (linear, logic, multinomial), KMeans clustering, PCA, random forest etc.
Extremely proficient in data mining using Python (Numpy, pandas, scimitar-learn, etc.), SQL, Python/R, Kibana/Splunk, Java.
Expertise working with Big Data (Spark, Hadoop, Pig/Hive) tools and frameworks
Nice to have
Understanding or experience with the unique data challenges that face connected hardware, or IoT companies
Exceptional quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to draw insights and recommendations from analysis and present proposals to internal stakeholders
Experience working directly with database engineers
