Engineering Manager - Machine Learning Infrastructure

We think Machine Learning is going to play an important role in helping us achieve its mission of growing and sharing the world's knowledge. We have tens of Machine Learning models in production powering various product features. We use a variety of algorithms — everything from linear models to decision trees and deep neural networks. Our production models operate at a huge scale and help over two hundred million people using us every month.

We want to empower all ML engineers to be as impactful as they can be in solving different ML problems at scale. To that end, we are looking for an engineering leader to lead and grow the team that builds our company-wide machine learning infrastructure. In this role, you will collaborate super closely with all the ML teams in the company, help them move faster, and uncover new opportunities to apply ML by overcoming technical barriers. Your team will be solving very interesting technical problems at the intersection of various exciting domains like Machine Learning, Distributed Systems, and High Performance Computing. Your work will have an enormous impact on our long-term success.

Responsibilities:

• • Lead engineers who work on the ML infrastructure team
  • Work together with all the ML teams to set goals, plan roadmaps and achieve results across responsibilities such as ease of use, innovation, performance, scalability and reliability
  • Assess employee performance frequently and consistently, recognizing and promoting excellent performance while addressing under-performance
  • Help engineers develop technical skills and with their careers, tailoring work and projects to their personality, skills and working style
  • Work with the engineering management team to develop new initiatives and improve existing processes across the entire engineering team
  • Work closely with the recruiting team to grow the team

Requirements:

• • 5+ years of industry experience in Infrastructure and/or Machine Learning related fields
  • 3+ years of experience in managing engineering teams
  • Previous experience building end to end Machine Learning and/or distributed infrastructure systems
  • Prior background and interest in the field of Machine Learning
  • BS, MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field
  • Love of our product
