About your role:
With 180 million uniques - and growing fast! - we are the largest entertainment fan site in the world. As the newest member of the engineering team, youll be integral to building the future success of this site by developing the services, interfaces, and tools that bring the best fan-oriented news to our users.
Responsibilities:
- Understand the needs of our users - both internal and external - and translate those needs to scalable solutions
- Build, enhance, and integrate with a variety of services and clients
- Expand and improve the teams back-end Java service and SOA capabilities
- Grow your own front-end JavaScript / CSS capabilities while contributing to the user interface
You are
- A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, or have equivalent experience
- A mid- to senior-level developer with 5+ years in a production environment
- Full-stack, with a moderate bias towards working on the back-end
- Experienced with:
- ...building and maintaining modern Java services, preferably within an SOA
- ...designing performant, scalable SQL schema and queries
- ...building and maintaining modern, responsive JavaScript-based websites
- Committed to building scalable, stable back-end systems
- Excited about creating fast, elegant, and stylish user experiences
- Focused on code quality and automated testing
- Available for one of the quietest on-call rotations around
Bonus points if you...
- Have experience with any or all of the following:
- DropWizard
- Jersey
- Guice
- MySQL
- Webpack
- Babel
- Karma
- Mocha
- Prefer test-driven development (TDD) and understand the real point of code coverage
- Have experience on Scrum teams
