We’ve built a platform that hosts tens of thousands of unique communities, where millions of people share content and engage in conversations every day, and 200+ million actives use every month.
What you’ll be doing
•Building key community features and new experiences for redditors using Python and JavaScript, talking to Cassandra and Postgres.
•Helping us modernize our tech stack and explore new architecture that scales well. We receive over 175,000 pageviews a minute, and that’s not counting API requests.
•Communicating with our active community about features and bugs.
•Working closely with product and design to continually improve the user experience.
Job Requirements:
What/Who we’re looking for
•A strong understanding of software and web technologies particularly. You’ve built web applications and you understand the intricacies of making one successful. You have a strong proficiency in at least one programming language.
•A breadth of interest in the web. Leaning frontend or backend is fine, but we find folks who can span the stack and are more generalist in their experience do best at our company.
•Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently. Our team is small, but our vision is large. We use Slack to share ideas and coordinate.
Nice to have experience
•Are already a redditor (if you can share your username, great, but if you'd prefer not, we totally understand).
•Be curious on the product side and the community side. Help us figure out what is working, what isn't working, and why.
•Are interested in open source software. Almost all of our code is open source and we believe strongly in contributing back to the community.
