We are looking for motivated and passionate engineers to join the Platform team of the Policy Compute Engine (PCE), the central brain of our Adaptive Security Platform product. Our Platform team is growing and owns the core of the Policy Compute Engine. This covers platform frameworks and infrastructure for our service-oriented architecture including cluster management, high availability, caching and persistence layers, API support, background jobs, reporting infrastructure, authentication and authorization, and more. We focus on the important aspects of scale and performance of the system to meet the demands of our customers, including queuing, responsiveness and active connections to tens of thousands of managed servers. In addition, we also build features that the rest of the product broadly builds upon, such as workload lifecycle management.
As a senior engineer in the Platform team, we expect you to have a broad system understanding and build new components from the ground-up. We want strong database fundamentals and experience with postgres is a bonus. We seek self-driven, independent, engineers who want to be hands-on and to deliver infrastructure as well as features in the above space. We want you to ask the right questions, articulate design trade-offs and propose solutions. We want you to own architecture decisions. We expect you to write and own code, both during and after releases. We want you to move the product forward, and embody our ‘Customers First’ philosophy. We want you to have experience building large scale and performant distributed systems, and building REST-ful web services. We want the ability and desire to mentor junior engineers, collaborate with peers within and across teams, and leaders in our organization. With us, we design systems and write code that runs both in our own multi-tenant cloud service and in customer datacenters around the world. We write unit and integration tests, as things need to just work ™. And we’re kept honest by a world-class QA team who will let us know if it doesn’t.
Most of our code is written in Ruby, which we chose mainly for the high productivity (we don’t use much of Rails framework, though). We use a variety of open source technologies in our platform including ActiveRecord, haproxy, memcached, redis and consul. As we move forward with our roadmap, we are looking for someone who can work with these technologies, build upon them, as well as suggest and lead us towards new technologies as required.
