We’re looking for strong, thoughtful proof-of-concept engineers whose breadth of experience lies in the intersection of computer vision/machine learning, software, and data engineering. The successful candidates will craft robust prototypes that extend our business beyond its core product offering by supporting special projects, contracts, and internal research and development. Your solutions will involve drawing inference from GIS data and aerial/satellite imagery utilizing powerful in-house systems.
What You'll Do:
Design and implement software at the component and scripting level as required by the prototype development
Discover and analyze data from the web (census, open data, commercial vendors)
Integrate data from multiple data sources into prototype databases
Assist in the migration of your solutions to production environment as required
Collaborate with new business development managers and computer vision/machine learning, data, and software engineers to define requirements and design solutions
Strong Programming Skills: Experience in scripting language such as Ruby and Python. Solid programming experience in C/C++ including STL and boost. You should be familiar with the Linux (Ubuntu >= 14.04) environment including shell scripting. Programming experience scientific tools such as Matlab/Octave is a big plus.
Database Skills: Experience in reporting, analytics, and databases. Experience with PostgreSQL is highly desired.
Strong Problem Solving and Algorithms Skills: You understand how to approach challenging problems and deliver pragmatic solutions. You have interest in computer vision and machine learning. Experience with training, testing, and validating machine learning models is a plus.
Self-starter: You enjoy working out problems and can translate high-level tasks and guidance into tested, readable, high-quality code.
Fast Learner: We use whatever technology fits the task, not creating tasks that fit the technology. You should be able to learn new languages/tech-stacks and apply them effectively.
Team Player: You want others to succeed just as much as you want to yourself and enjoy working in a collaborative environment; working across domains to solve complex, large-scale problems. Communication Skills: We are a distributed team in Munich and Palo Alto. Good communication skills, particularly in English, are key in order to work efficiently.
